Both of these qualities are essential criteria for being a Good Foods for Good Health pick. The foods we’ve tagged are:
What about fat, cholesterol and salt?Besides being tasty and nutritious, our "Good Foods," meet the guidelines for fat, cholesterol and sodium content established by the Food and Drug Administration for nutrient-rich foods. We also have an eye on added sugars. What about artificial ingredients? If a food contains artificial sweeteners* or colors, it is not included in our program. Foods that are overly fortified or overly processed are not included either - our focus is on highlighting wholesome foods for a healthy you. For specific questions about the foods in the program, please contact our dietitian Susan Moores, MS, RD --------------
* People with certain health conditions may wish, or need, to use foods that contain artificial sweeteners. |
